Learn it in a working salon, not a classroom
Certificate courses in hair and makeup, in batches of eight, taught by stylists who are on the floor the rest of the week.
Courses
Take one, or both together at a combined fee.
Professional hair course
Twelve weeks. Cutting, colour theory, global and highlights, keratin and smoothening, blow-dry and styling, client consultation and salon hygiene.
Professional makeup course
Eight weeks. Skin prep, colour matching, HD and airbrush, bridal and party looks, hairstyling, draping and how to price your work.
How it is taught
- Batches of eight, so the trainer can actually watch your hands
- Mannequin work for the first two weeks, then supervised live clients
- Your own professional kit, included and yours to keep
- Weekday and weekend batches, switchable if your shifts change
- Fees payable in instalments
- Certificate on completion, plus a photographed portfolio of your work
- Placement help through the salons and artists we work with
How to join
Call or message
Tell us which course and whether you want weekday or weekend. We will give you the next batch date.
Come and see the place
Visit during working hours, meet the trainer and watch a class. No commitment.
Register
Bring a photo ID, two photographs and the first instalment. That confirms your seat.
Start
Kit handed over on day one. You are on mannequins that week and on real clients within a fortnight.
Admission questions
Do I need any experience to join?
No. Both courses start from the beginning, including how to hold the scissors and how to read a skin tone. People join straight after school and people join at forty.
What qualification do I get?
An SS Academy certificate on completion, plus a practical portfolio of your own work that matters more at a job interview than any certificate does.
Do you help with jobs?
We help with placements through the salons and artists we know, and our best students are often offered work with us. We do not promise a job, because nobody honestly can.
Can I do the course while working?
Yes. We run a weekday batch and a weekend batch, and you can switch between them if your shifts change.
Is a kit included?
Yes, a professional kit is included in the fee and it is yours to keep. You practise on your own tools from day one.
Can I pay the fee in parts?
Yes, in instalments across the course. Ask for the schedule when you enquire.
Book a chair, or a seat in class
Walk-ins are welcome, but a call means you get the stylist you want at the time you want. For the academy, ask for a batch date and a fee breakdown.
